Paddle Barrier Lake in a Giant canoe

Sign up for the canoe tour or package it with a horseback ride.

Get acquainted with the Rockies on both land and water. This unique tour will expose you to the multi-faceted experience our surroundings have to offer. First, you will arrive at Barrier Lake Day Use Area where you will step into a large canoe and set off for a paddle along the rugged shoreline of Barrier Lake, surrounded by fresh air, mountain views, and learn about the voyaguers who explore much of Canada by canoe. Once you’ve returned to shore, you will have time for a self-sufficient picnic lunch, or time to enjoy one of the various restaurants in the valley before heading to Boundary Ranch. You will ride through wooded trails, past glistening ponds, and take in the immensity of the magnificent Canadian Rockies from the saddle. This family-friendly activity is perfect for anyone ages 2+ or 6+ if going horseback riding.

What to Expect:

9:45 am – Meet your Guide at Barrier Lake.
After being fitted for life jackets we’ll head down to the water.
Soak in the fresh mountain air and beautiful towering mountains on your leisurely paddle.
At the far end of the lake, you’ll get out onshore to stretch your legs and try your hand at no-match fire building.
12:00 pm – You’ll return to the initial meet location and say goodbye to your guide and new friends.
If you purchased the horseback riding package you’ll have some free time for lunch.
2:30 pm- Check-in at Boundary Ranch for your 3-4 pm horseback ride.
