Come into the shop and fill out waiver; we will then take a credit card imprint (Visa and Mastercard accepted) as a damage deposit until you return with the gear, at which point we will check it over and then you may pay for your rental with credit, debit or cash.

How do I rent XC skis?
Come into the shop and fill out waiver; we will then take a credit card imprint (Visa and Mastercard accepted) as a damage deposit until you return with the gear, at which point we will check it over and then you may pay for your rental time with credit, debit or cash. XC skis, boots and poles are all part of the XC ski rental package.
What if I only need boots or poles or skis and not a full package?
We rent individual components of a XC ski set as well as full packages. Our bindings are NNN. The brand of the boots is irrelevant, if you have SNS they won’t work with the bindings on our skis.
Do you rent downhill or touring equipment?
Nope, we just rent XC skis.
Nakiska is a way more practical place to rent downhill ski stuff. Go to Gear Up in Canmore or MEC in Calgary for touring stuff.
What kind of x-c skis?
We rent classic waxless skis, made by Fischer with NNN bindings.
Do I need a reservation?
While reservations are not necessary all the time, we do advise making them as we frequently book all of our gear out in a day. With a reservation, you will know that your gear is here waiting for you. Reservations must be for a full day rental and payment is taken when the reservation is made.

Can we take the gear that we rent somewhere else?
Yes, you may transport the gear elsewhere as long as you can do so safely with your vehicle. We have tie down kits available for boats. Ask us about multi-day rental prices.
Do I need bear spray?
If you are going to be hiking, walking, biking, running, camping, or pretty much anything else outside in Kananaskis, you should definitely carry bear spray. We do. It's more effective than a gun, and doesn’t require a special permit to carry.
When do you sell off your used rental gear?
At the end of every season, we sell off that season's gear. So in the fall we sell off bicycles, in the spring we sell off XC skis and snowshoes, etc. Want to know all the details and get notified when the sale is happening? Join our email list here. The release date changes from year to year.
What if we want to do some serious Revenant stuff?
Book a tour with us, we can make it happen. Minus the whole bear attack thing of course.
Are jeggings appropriate winter hiking attire?
What is the meaning of life?
We’re still trying to figure that out, but Kananaskis is a great place to look for it. No wait…it's 7.
Where can I buy groceries, firewood, propane, etc.?
Some groceries and camping supplies can be bought at the Mt. Kidd Campers Centre, or at Fortress Gas Station. Hours are seasonal, call before you go.
How do I rent a canoe/kayak/SUP?
During peak summer busy times, we offer lakeside rentals at Barrier Lake, with a staff member present on weekends. For weekend rentals at Barrier Lake everything is rented on an hourly basis. Hourly weekend rates go into effect the first Saturday in June.
During quieter times, the boats will still be located at Barrier Lake, however you will need to come to the shop to fill out waivers and pick up the safety gear. Gear will also need to be returned to the shop when you are finished. For self serve boat rentals, full day rental rates apply.
Paddles, PFDs and safety kit are included in the rental rate. Should you need to transport a boat, tie down kits are also available.
Where is the closest gas station/liquor?
Fortress Gas Station (20 km south on Highway 40) is the closest place for gas and liquor/beer, although offsale beer is also available at Woody’s Pub at the Delta Lodge at Kananaskis.
Are there lakes near you?
Yes; Barrier Lake is about a 15 minute drive north on Hwy 40 and is where we keep our boats for summer rental. There is also Upper and Lower Kananaskis Lake a 40 minute drive South on Highway 40 in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park.
How do lakeside rentals work?
In the summer, we keep a canoe trailer full of boats at the Barrier Lake Day Use Area (not the dam!). On that trailer, there are 4 single kayaks, 2 tandem kayaks and 4 canoes. To rent one of these boats, you need to come to our shop, fill out the waivers, get the paddles, PFDs, etc. and then we will give you a key to unlock the boat. Once you have the gear, you go to Barrier Lake Day Use, unlock your boat, have an awesome day of paddling and then lock the boat back up and return the paddles and gear to us at the shop. This process eliminates the need to transport a boat on your own vehicle.
From May long weekend until July 1st, we will have a member of our team at the lake on Saturday and Sunday. For all of July and August, we will someone there Friday, Saturday, Sunday and holiday Mondays. On weekends, you can go directly to the lake for your rentals.
